Toy Review: Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set!

Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set Toy Review

It looks like Spring is officially here and isn’t going away anytime soon. Now we’re anxious to get the kids outside and keep them there. We feel even better when they’re exercising, so we decided to invest in a basketball court. Or whatever we could fit into the backyard. The Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set is rated for ages 1 ½ to 5 years old. The height is adjustable to grow with a child, and includes an oversized rim and junior-sized basketball. Ideally, the EasyScore Basketball Set helps develop hand-eye coordination, along with some social and motor skills during this critical developmental stage in a child’s life.

We’re not the only parents who are pretty much impressed with this miniature basketball court–and not just because we’ve seen our kids actually shoot baskets. Parents say their young children will spend hours shooting hoops and getting along while playing with this toy. We’ll vouch for that. We should be able to get a few years of those hours, too. The EasyScore set adjusts in height. We’re starting at two feet high, and the net goes up to four feet high. That should keep our kids busy for at least two more growth spurts.

There are a few complaints that this basketball set may not be as durable as it should be. Some parents say the rim falls off after just a few shots of the basketball and they have to constantly put it back on. We’ve had better luck than that. Our set has even stood up to us replacing the lightweight junior basketball with a heavier (but still smaller) basketball.

Let’s agree that the EasyScore set is kind of pricey at around $40. That’s just the recommended list price, though. We’ve found it for closer to $30 in some places. Also noted is the fact there are some small parts associated with this toy that could be a choking hazard. It seems the low end of the age recommendation may be a little optimistic. We’re still pretty excited to see the wear and tear and action that the EasyScore Basketball Set is already scoring in our backyard–and we’re expecting to see it stay this popular all through summer.
