How To Prevent Wrinkles While Sleeping

Many people are surprised to learn that they can prevent wrinkles, the most dreaded visible sign of aging, in their sleep. With a little proactive effort, you can be on top of the anti-aging process and utilize your shut eye time for something other than rest!

Actually Get Some Good Shut Eye

First and foremost, consider all efforts fruitless if you don’t actually get enough sleep on a consistent basis. Fatigue is one of the primary culprits of wrinkled skin for a number of reasons, but mostly because your body is having to work over-time to get things done during the day, which isn’t conducive to fresh, exuberant skin. So, it may seem simple, but the best way to fight wrinkles in your sleep… is to actually get some sleep.

Have a Consistent Facial Routine Before Bed

Don’t expect any results if you don’t do what it takes to take care of your skin outside of wrinkles. This means you should be removing makeup, cleansing your skin with a natural cleanser, and moisturizing every night (before you even consider adding any creams or exfoliants). Exfoliation is something that should happen 1-3 times a week, depending on how sensitive your skin is.

Invest in an Anti-aging Wrinkle Cream

Once you get the facial cleansing process down and do it consistently, invest in an anti-aging wrinkle cream. “Invest” is the key word, here. Look for creams that aren’t cheap, that are natural, and that come highly recommended by professionals. All you’ll do is dab it underneath your eyes (where those pesky bags show up in the morning), and sleep soundly while it settles in your skin and works its magic.

Eliminate Stress

Here’s one that goes hand in hand with sleeping, and that’s fighting stress. Even if you actually sleep, your body will fight the REM cycle if you have too much on your mind. You’ll dream crazy dreams and ultimately not get the rest you need before you sleep well. To eliminate stress, try this: Take a soothing bath before bed, with the calming smells of lavender and camomile. Free yourself of thoughts by keeping a journal by your bed and jotting them down quickly before you trail off to sleep. If you wake in the middle of the night with anxious thoughts as many often do, jot them down quickly – the release of those thoughts while knowing that you know they’ll be there in the morning should free yourself of the anxiety of carrying them through the night.

The aging process is not preventable, but you can slow it down. Prevent wrinkles with these methods, even while you sleep!
