Making the Perfect Honey Face Mask

People in ancient civilizations prized raw honey for its healing properties. Today, many women use a raw honey face mask several times a week to improve the tone and softness of their skin.

If you’re looking to reap these benefits, start by applying warm water or steam to your face to open your pores and then patting your skin dry. Then, take about a teaspoon of raw honey from a jar using a spoon or the tips of your fingers. Rub your fingertips together a bit and then smear the honey on your cleaned face evenly. Leave it on for 10 minutes to an hour and then rinse it off with warm water, patting your face dry.

Adding other ingredients, however, can specialize the mask for your skin type. Below are six recipes for honey face masks designed with specific skin types in mind.

Skin Hydrating Honey Face Mask

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon coconut oil

1/ 4 ripe avocado

Directions:

In a small mixing bowl, mash the avocado with the back of a fork. Add the honey and the coconut oil and mix thoroughly. Use your fingers to apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your face. Sit back and relax for about 15 minutes, then, gently scrub off the mask. After, splash cold water onto your face to close your pores and pat your skin dry with a towel.
