Ombre Felt Christmas Tree: The Perfect Holiday Centerpiece

In the video above, Marianne Canada of HGTV.com shows you how to make an ombré felt tree that will be the perfect Christmas centerpiece for your table this year.

All you will need to get started are: some foam cones in different sizes, sheets of craft felt in colors of your choice, scissors, and a hot glue gun with plenty of glue sticks handy.

Cut a single one inch strip of your darkest shade of felt which will be glued to the bottom of your cone first. Use colors that will have a nice grey scale effect so you will have a feeling of darkness going into light. Now cut out your leaves by first cutting the sheets into thirds. Lay the three strips on top of each other and roughly cut out leaves an inch wide in various sizes. Two sheets of felt is used for each color and note that you should use the lighter color to make smaller leaves for the top of the cone.

After you hot glue down the strip, apply your leaves overlapping them slightly from dark to light. Top it off with the smaller leaves folded over the top of the tree. Enjoy your charming retro-inspired Christmas trees.
