On July 17, 1955, Disneyland opened its arms to the world. That was fifty-eight years ago. Since then, more than 650 million people from all over have flocked to the theme park, celebrating the brain child of the ever-impressive Walt Disney. Upon the park’s opening, Walt said, “To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”
To this day, Disneyland remains one of the loved family vacation spots across the world, offering exciting activities to parents and children alike. And now it’s celebrating its 58th birthday. First of all, that gives all you moms out there the perfect excuse to plan a mid-summer vacation with your family. Second of all, it gives us the excuse to make a round-up of some of the weirdest, most creative, and most heartwarming videos surrounding the experiences of Disneyland-goers. Check them out below!
1. Walt Disney’s Tour of Disneyland
We’ll begin by giving credit where credit is due. Check out this quick video starring none other than Walt Disney himself. He’ll give you a brief tour of Disneyland, but keep in mind that it’s a tad dated — the park is more extensive these days.
2. Dapper Dans Sing Boy Band Songs
An old-fashioned take on some modern — well, if you can call the late 90s “modern” — boy-band songs. They’re pretty good! And the songs will certainly appeal to your kids — especially the girls.
3. Paranoid Prank (Disneyland Edition)
Well, this one is less “about Disneyland” and more “featuring Disneyland”. Who comes up with these kinds of pranks? We think he probably has too much time on his hands. But, hey, at least it’s entertaining.
4. Star Tours: Darth Vader Goes to Disneyland
We are far from ashamed to admit that this is hilarious. Definitely worth watching whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not (but you are because everyone is).
5. Disneyland Flashmob Proposal
Now, this video already has more than 8 million views, so you might have seen it already. But if that’s the case, we both know it’s worth re-watching. And if you haven’t seen it before — grab a box of tissues.
