Birthday Boy! Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: May 2, 1972!

May 2 happy birthday the rock dwayne johnson i

Charismatic, successful, hardworking–these are some of the words used to describe Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He’s a former football player, WWE superstar, an actor, a husband and father, and an inspiration to children of all ages. He’s done it all, seen it all, and gives it all–literally. Today is his 41st birthday, and we’re pretty happy to celebrate having a wrestler who can really hold up as a role model for our kids. (Although it looks like he’s officially retired after a match last month where he suffered a hernia. Ouch.)

The secret to The Rock’s success really isn’t a secret. What it boils down to is hard work and determination. He keeps his eye on the prize and goes for it with all his might. In the process, he tries to instill these values in the young and old alike who desire to be just like him. It’s no wonder Dwayne has become such a positive role model for all his adoring fans. Here’s why we think he’s so great:

His Competitive Nature

Johnson settles for nothing but the best. If you need proof, just look at his extensive career as a WWE superstar and actor. Dreams come true because you make them come true through hard work and determination. This competitive nature sets Johnson apart from others in a positive way that kids can look up to. If you want to be the best, let nothing stand in your way.

He Follows His Dreams

Johnson gives 100% in pursuing all of his dreams–whether in his pursuit of football, wrestling, or acting. His successful career is proof that no matter the obstacle, you can achieve your dreams if you work hard. All you have to do is visualize yourself succeeding to make your dreams a reality. Kids these days have a hard time visualizing the future, but with Dwayne Johnson at the helm, young minds begin to understand.

He is a Mentor

Whether he sets out to be one or not, Dwayne is a mentor to millions. Dwayne had a rough life growing up. He was arrested nine times before the age of 17, but found a mentor in his football coach. Just as his football coach did, Dwayne helps kids stay out of trouble by providing a positive role model.

We’re also pleased to see that Johnson is maintaining his kid fan base. The Fast & Furious series is pretty mature, and his new Pain & Gain is definitely grown-up material. But he’s also doing (sort of) family fare like the recent G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and we expect our kids will be very happy with his upcoming Hercules movie and the planned sequel to the family film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Now check out these inspirational quotes that would be common sense coming from you, but will sound a lot better to your kids coming from The Rock…
